it is good to take a few moments to prepare the surroundings in which you are going to meditate. the key is very simple be comfortable, as you will be sitting for awhile loosen any tight clothing dont have the room excessively hot or cold as this will simply distract you it is not necessary to sit in a dark room, as this my encourage sleepiness. but don`t sit in bright liht either a slightly dimmed light or gentle daylight will provide suitable lighting conditions. some people light a candle or strike a bell to signify the start of their practise.
choose a chair that will enable you to sit upright,your feet firmly on the ground to keep you in touch with the earth. become aware of your breathing and allow yourself to breath more slowly and deeply than you might normally follow your beathing in and out of the body
meditation is a mental discipline, it takes patience and persistence to develp the power o concentration.
the mind will naturally wonder to other things. the attention must be returned to the subject over and over again.it is frustrating to discover just how easily the attention wonders.
